The Italian firm Pininfarina has unveiled its prototype EV Nido today as the starting point for a new modular platform for hybrid and electric vehicles. The EV Nido is an updated design of the concept car of 2004 Nido town with proportions very similar to that of the smart fortwo. Nido platform has been developed entirely in-house Pininfarina to style and Engineering Center Cambiano with the intention of being able to perform in different styles, including two cars and four seats, and pickup and van models. While the prototype uses a steel chassis frame tube, the production versions seem to migrate to a spatial structure lighter aluminum.
