BMW X3 starts production at its plant in Spartanburg (USA)

The German car maker BMW has started production of new X3 in Spartanburg plant in South Carolina (United States), which has received a total investment of 750 million dollars (586 million euros at current exchange rates ) to become the manufacturing center of BMW X models, the company said in a statement.

Brand said his intention is that the Spartanburg facility is the site where it is manufactured models in the range X of the firm, to what has been the subject of various extensions, which have enabled the factory to expand its capacity 200,000 units per year.

BMW noted that after the production of 614 824 the previous model unit on the ground of its Austrian partner Magna Steyr in Graz (Austria) in Spartanburg has begun production of the new X3, which will launch in the Spanish market on November 25 as a more nimble vehicle with a high level of comfort.

The car firm highlighted that the objective of the new generation of the X3 is to continue the commercial success experienced by his predecessor during the seven years he has been on the market and that 605 498 units have been marketed only in the plant in Graz

The Munich-based company said that like its predecessor, the new X3 has the intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive, which improves maneuverability and versatility of driving.

BMW said that cooperation with Magna Steyr will continue within the established framework of the new structures of production and noted that the Graz factory has begun production of the Mini Countryman, the fourth model of the Mini brand.
