the worst part is that we don't know if and how many points he had at the beginning, and/or if any monster or trap was pre-placed in the mansion. Nor we know the 'price-list" and stats of monsters and trap (all of which i think we should)

the good part is that the villain is dumb as a bell so he probably placed all the traps and monsters to guard his barbie-doll collection ;)

beatrice, that part is outdated and has been superseded by a more updated interpretation of how traps work. i think post 47 is a more current version of the rules.

I think we will probably get an announcement about new designed MacBookPros at WWDC along with MacPro Desktops.

Rumor had it back in January that Apple wanted Intel to pre-release Merom chips to Apple for the MacBook Pro. Instead Apple was forced to rush to market a quick update to the PowerBook line using the Yonah processor.

My guess now is that Apple is going to finally get to roll out the new redsigned MacBook Pro for Merom. I bet that Apple gets away from the out-dated Aluminium/Titanium look and goes to the the smooth polished black, white, and silver look similar to the MacBook. I also bet it gets the updated keyboard, glossy display, etc like the MacBook.

My wife has the new MacBook and it is a really sweet machine to own. I think it is much better designed and easier to use than my PB G4 1.67 Mhz.

The easier HD, Battery/ memory access is well thought out. The screen is brilliant. The keyboard is much better than I expected. In addition the latchless closure works like a gem and is much more convenient than that crappy button latch on the MBPro. Also the metal look is getting ugly and outdated. It scratches easy, shows finger prints, and dust more. It is also not as forgiving of a short drop. Metal bends & breaks. Plastic absorbs and flexes.

Apple is ready to re-invent the MacBookPro and probably would have done it sooner except the chips weren't available.

Everyone with an iphone is paying at least $840 a year for the privilege of using it, and if all you wanted was cell phone service you could pay half that.

Lets review a few things:

1) Standalone GPS units cost less than $99 today with interfaces similar to the TomTom software and they won't tie up your iPhone while navigating.

2) The hardware itself is far more expensive than it should be given the price point of standalone TomTom GPS hardware. I bought a TomTom GO 730 for about $139 brand new.

3) The Google Maps turn by turn navigation really brings competition that shows just how overpriced these GPS solutions are.

Yes, I pay at least $840 per year for my iPhone that gives me enough functionality to almost call it a computer. The Google Maps navigation software will be included with it soon making it an even better value, but for now the TomTom solution is still overpriced compared to TomTom's own hardware offerings.

Here's other point of view: I want to use OSX in everyday use (Safari, Mail, iTunes, graphic design, Dreamweaver etc... and OSX overall). But sometimes I want to play games too, and it's awesome that nowadays it's possible to boot into Windows and play games there and then boot back into OSX. Are you saying that Apple should totally forget all users who would like to use OSX but occasionally play games on Windows, and let them buy PCs? Most of the gamers do not use their computer ONLY to play games. Consumer tower would be good for Apple to get new switchers and get more marketshare.
I agree 100%. And I'll go one further: not only do I want to have ONE machine for work and play--a Mac--but I don't want to have to reboot, NOR buy a license for Windows :)

I've been buying Mac games and will continue to--and games are a big motivator for me to buy new Macs.

I don't think Apple will ignore the sub-Mac-Pro headless market forever. I think something is coming to fill the gap. I just don't know when :)

What if you want to do a full erase & restore? Surely they won't require you to burn it to a disc or USB drive, I can't see them expecting "average" users to do that, and wouldn't that be defeating the whole purpose of using the App Store to bypass the need for physical media in the first place?

I wonder if it somehow partitions the hard drive to make a small partition with a bootable installer on, and then installs Lion onto the larger, primary partition?

iOS is centric to iPhone and I can't really see why the sudden shift from the status quo.
The scorching success of iPhone 4 hand set is really setting the pace.
The Lion revision of OSX will probably see much more inheritance of features and the ap-verse of iOS.

In my view the real buzz for iOS 5 might be the appearance of the whole swag of new touch gestures that Apple have been working on and previewed in the recent beta.

That along with the cloud, NFC and maybe 4G.

I think that the only thing that might trigger iPad 3 to market could be the success rate of OLED screen manufacture process. Currently I take it that for larger screens the death rate of OLED pixels seems too high.... Either that or a retina level of screen res might trigger iPad 3 to market by years end.

apple was supposed to have bought up all the smartphone displays as well, yet it's easy to buy an Atrix, Inspire or any other android phone. manufacturers just use screen sizes that apple doesn't use

It'll be a month or so before I get to visit a big city, but over at gpspassion.com some people are doing some fairly sophisticated testing of the mount so you can see exactly how well it works.

I mounted on the dash, just left of center, so that it would be in easy reach. My windshield is steeply sloped, so I'd either have to stick it to the windshield right up at the top with wires dangling down from there, or it would be out of reach. The mount comes with a disk, with sticky foam on one side that can stick to a slightly curved dash, and hard shiny plastic on the other that the mount's suction cup can stick to. (There are inexpensive third party mounts of various sorts that can work with tomtom mounts, which would give you more options.)

The mount has a standard stereo mini-plug outlet, just like the earphone jack on a standard mp3 player, so if your car has an "aux" jack, you can use a cable, or if it has a tape player you can plug in one of those tape-player-to-cable adapters.

Not sure about the various bluetooth possibilities, but when you first establish the bluetooth connection in the iphone's preferences, it gives you a choice of which devices to select, so it might be the case that you could use a bluetooth headset or hands-free set while also using the mount.

Also, whoever posted info on the Arkon Friction Mount--also thanks as that may be a good option to avoid window mounting.

I am waiting for Tstreete to do his "acid" test and hopefully report back.

Couple of questions:
Assume you mounted on windshield. How was "view" while driving. Could you see the iphone and maps easily? Might a dashboard mount be better as it would be closer?

Also, how do you connect the mount to your radio system? Sorry if stupid question but haven't seen anything on it other than you need audio cable. Is it hardwired or a plugin somewhere near the radio. From reading the above posts it appears that spoken directions come thru radio speakers as would music BUT phone calls come through iphone/tomtom speakers. Correct?

If I have bluetooth via the steering wheel can that be incorporated with the car kit? not sure i would want to as it was a pain to use when i had it set up in the first place. I also had a BlueAnt bluetooth that I used with my BB Storm but it will not sync my contact list while using the iphone. Might I be able to use this feature? again might just be easier to use iphone voice dialing.

Thanks all for helpful information. I too agree that we each make our own decision on whether or not to by the tomtom dock. It depends on what we are trying to accomplish. Bashing the price point is really counterproductive as we each have the option to buy it or not. oops didn't mean to get on a soapbox here.

Not sure what you guys think about this, but I think it would make sense on the iPhone if they somehow integrate iAds into it... otherwise I'm not sure why they would take a $99 service and make it free.

Let's not forget that pre-iPhone smart phones were updated every couple of years (hardware wise, maybe some aesthetic changes if anything.) We'd see a refresh at CES, then a couple years after CES it would suddenly be on the shelves, probably with the same CPU, maybe a bit more RAM and the next version of Palm OS / Windows Mobile (Remember those? LOL).

Finally... bad move Apple? Really? You mean like, Apple should have decided to go back in time and prevent the earthquake and tsunami or something? Everyone is debating whether or not this is a "smart move" by Apple. If this is true, they don't have a choice! Supply constraints are supply constraints, there aren't other chip manufacturers without seriously sacrificing the iPhone's performance and reliability, and therefore it's reputation. For those of you unaware, this rumor, if true, is the result of a massive natural disaster that recently occurred in Japan, where a number of iPhone components come from! Yes they are assembled in China, but as the article stated, Chinese manufacturers aren't getting their parts from Japan like they usually do around this time.

It's crazy, people are freaking out talking about abandoning iPhones altogether because heaven forbid anyone wait a couple more months for something! I mean, it's what you want, but instead of waiting you'll "settle" for something else? Am I the only one who sees that flaw in logic? Maybe I'm biased because I didn't plan on being an iPhone 5 customer (no upgrade for another year and a half, so I'll be an iPhone 6 buyer), but I still think this whole conversation is silly. Apple is releasing much faster than anyone else had in the past, maybe not now, but had in the past, and Japan is a little inconvenienced right now, just in case you haven't watched the news.

Also, on Apple's hardware being outdated when it hit the shelves. It always had. I had a 1GHz phone when Apple released there 600 and something MHz iPhone (first gen). It finally hit near 1GHz (but not quite) with the iPhone 4, when there were ALREADY 1GHz phones out for a while (Droid Incredible, etc.) The software trumps the hardware, it's efficient enough it "feels" fast, that's why people buy iPhones, not because the hardware numbers are higher than on the competition.

The effects of the earthquake and tsunami and power supply problems in Japan now will affect manufacturing across many industries, steel, automotive, and electronic component production chiefly among them. Apple will not be the only company to experience these issue.

All I am thinking about after this news is the release date of the Iphone 6.

This year I'll have some fun with Android, since Apple's coasting. It's their loss and my gain.

Besides it's very fun to check out what's up with the competition first hand.

eBook reader. If Apple can manage some arrangements with the textbook publishers, this would move Apple back into the driver's seat in the Education market.
